Peruvian Atlas moth insect taxidermy workshop (Sept 20th)

Ease into the Halloween season by getting hands-on with a spooky Rothschild moth, also
nicknamed the Peruvian atlas moth! In this workshop we’ll be learning about the insect
preservation process and silk moth anatomy, picking out our very own moth specimen,
spreading its wings, and taking it home on an EVA foam pinning board to dry. Additional
entomology supplies available for purchase in-store after class, including insect specimens to practice with at home.

Previous students are welcome to bring their own tools (pointed tweezers, pins, pinning board) to get a $20 voucher for entomology supplies/specimens after class.

*Moths require very gentle hands, so this workshop is not recommended for young children.
This moth species may seep body oils after death, especially males, but this does not affect the quality of the moth and can be treated with a 100% fragrance-free acetone. We will go over how to do this during class, if any treatment is needed.
